To create special moments, sometimes you just have to try new flavours. A holiday in the Marche region is also traditional cuisine and typical dishes
To discover Le Marche you need the perfect accommodation so you can rest and regenerate. Our Deluxe Bungalow has everything you need: a double bedroom, an additional bedroom, a living area with kitchenette and a small garden outside. It is close to the main amenities of our village.
In Romagna they call it piadina, for the Marche people it is crescia. Actually, the dough and preparation of the latter are slightly different, but the pleasure of eating it is the same. Try it stuffed with Casciotta di Urbino or perhaps some typical cured meats: being won over by this simple yet tasty dish is really easy.
Less than an hour's drive from our village is Ascoli Piceno. It was here, approximately in the 1800s, that one of the most famous Marche specialities in the world was born: olives all'ascolana. The secret of this mouth-watering dish lies not only in the quality of the olives, the meat filling and the golden breadcrumbs, but also in its being a quick and tasty snack perfect for any time of day. For example, you can eat them baked, perhaps together with some fried cream, while strolling through the Renaissance Piazza del Popolo.
Some people call it cheese pizza, others Easter cake, others still Crescia di Pasqua: this savoury bread with various types of cheese inside the dough (mainly Parmesan, Pecorino Romano or Emmental) was born in the Middle Ages, in the Ancona monastery ofSanta Maria Maddalena di Serra de'Conti, and then spread to the neighbouring regions of Marche.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do: if in Bologna we speak of lasagne, in the Marche region the correct term to use is Vincisgrassi. Compared to its Emilian counterpart, the Marche version of lasagna uses spices such as cloves and nutmeg, but the delicacy remains the same. Every city in the Marche region has its own version of this traditional dish made with meat sauce, béchamel and egg pasta sheets.
Part of the tradition of the Marche hinterland, particularly Visso and the province of Macerata, Ciausculo is a very unique spreadable salami, seasoned with spices and garlic. Over time, it has become a symbol of the Marche region, although it is also produced in some Umbria provinces.
After a day spent exploring the Marche, you just want to enjoy dinner within walking distance of your lodge. In our village restaurant you will find a mouth-watering menu perfect for the whole family, as well as excellent pizzas to try.
