Sleep surrounded by unspoilt nature of the Maremma

Try sleeping under enormous, very special trees known as cork oaks. At the Stella del Mare Family Camping Village you will find the perfect environment to stay in contact with nature. The scent of the sea and the Mediterranean maquis mingle to create a very special atmosphere you can breathe in from the veranda of your accommodation: add the evocative panorama of the Rocchette Beach and you have all the ingredients for a special, inimitable seaside stay in Tuscany.

Close to the Stella del Mare Family Camping Village, at Castiglione della Pescaia, there are some of the most beautiful natural parks in Italy: one is the Nature Reserve of Diaccia Botrona: head there at sunset for an evocative experience you will remember!

The Maremma Regional Park

A little less than an hour's drive from our Family Camping Village is the region’s best-known Nature Park, also known as the “Parco dell’Uccellina”. Don’t miss the panoramic views from the hilltops along the entire Tyrrhenian coast as far as the islands of Giglio, Elba and Corsica, and see a succession of various natural environments including hills, Mediterranean maquis, cultivated fields and sandy beaches.

The Tuscan Archipelago National Park

The Tuscan Archipelago National Park

The largest marine park in Europe, it includes all the seven main islands in the Tuscan Archipelago. Legend has it that the seven islands in the Archipelago are the seven pearls of a necklace that Venus, the goddess of beauty and love, lost whilst swimming in the Mediterranean sea. On the islands it is possible to sight a number of rare species of animals, such as the Corsican seagull and the monk seal.

The beaches at Punta Ala

The beaches at Punta Ala

If the Rocchette or Cala Violina beaches are not enough for you, another two fantastic beaches can be found at Punta Ala. A small beach facing the island of Sparviero, with one bathing establishment and a small free beach. The other is between Punta Hidalgo and Cala del Barbiere, just beyond the pine forest: this long sandy beach with a number of different bathing establishments is very quiet and well-kept.

Your experience on the island of Elba

Not far from the Stella del Mare Family Camping Village is the famous island of Elba. It is the largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, renowned especially for its beaches and for being the home of Napoleon Bonaparte during his exile in 1814–1815. Well worth visiting at Portoferraio the exhibitions at the National Museum of Napoleonic Residences.

Some of Tuscany’s WWF Oases are in the Maremma, Argentario and Capalbio areas. First and foremost, the Orbetello Lagoon, which thanks to its position along the migratory routes sees the concentration of thousands of birds (including Pink Flamingos and Black-winged Stilts) especially in winter. The reserve is the perfect place for bird watching.
